Contemporary Railroads in Ohio

As we all know by now, there are but two class 1 railroads in Ohio; CSX and Norfolk Southern. It gives one reason to pause and consider all of the once great companies that have been absorbed by these two giants. There are also many regional railroads in Ohio. They are the result of less profitable lines that once belonged to those vanished companies having been spun off. These regionals criss-cross the state much as in the years prior to when the Big railroads acquired the smaller chartered railroads from the turn of the century to the 1930's; there are just fewer of them serving fewer communities.

This page is an index to pages describing, in varying degrees of detail, contemporary railroads in Ohio today. Some of them are written by me, others are written and hosted by other folks. In the latter case, the author's name appears in parentheses. They are listed either by the featured railroad company or the featured region of Ohio.
